We're not having a traditional Christmas Tree this year.((GASP!))
Several reasons:
1. We're living in an apartment. It's fine sized, but for 6 people; 5 of which are ALWAYS there, we find that there isn't a lot of "extra" room.
2. Our Christmas Tree is buried in storage 2.5 hours away.
3. We could get a real tree, but our base is also 2.5 hours away...and I'm not a huge fan of the mess real trees make; especially when you note reason #1 above.
4. Our ornaments & decorations are also in storage 2.5 hours away.
But, we still wanted to get into the holiday spirit so...the kids made their own trees.
Supplies needed:
Styrofoam Cones (Dollar store)
Thumb Tacks (Dollar store)
Paper, ribbons, etc.
Scissors (if you do paper, ribbons, etc.)
I unwrapped the styrofoam cones and opened the container of thumb tacks and the kids went to town. All three (ages 8, 6, and 3) enjoyed this simple project. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that they didn't need any help and could totally do it on their own.
Mom has a camera; time for a silly face!
See how cute? (I thought it was adorable that Kiki set them up like this on the blocks (aka "gifts"))
