A Little Girl Time

Yesterday Kiki took a nap. At our house this means you get to stay up later than the 'babies' (Leve & TJ) AND you get free-reign of your time. She decided that during her extra time she'd really like to watch a video and have her toes painted with "pail nolish". Of course I had a mile-long list of things that I wanted to get done once the babies were down, BUT...a little girl time is crucial...even when you're six! So we took the time... Before

She picked out her favorite color...
And finally settled on TWO colors...

(They are, incidentally, our two 'natural' choices which were purchased because Kiki often likes to 'eat' the pail nolish off her fingers with her teeth. They are Honey Bee Garden's Vintage Merlot and Piggy Paints' Angel Kisses.)

Of course we needed the foot dividers

And we ended with a happy girl with happy feet, and a happy Mama who had filled her daughter's "cup" in just a few minutes...and was able to spend the rest of the time working. I'm willing to bet that if I hadn't done it or had said, "I'll do it when I'm done working." She would have asked and begged the entire time making it so I got less done...by filling her FIRST I was then able to have an hour of completely uninterrupted work time. Perfect! I'll bet the same tactic works great with your own kids, pets, or spouse...the challenge is fighting our natural urge to do the things that SEEM more important first! Good luck!

Love the post and blog Stacy! It is so hard to slow down sometimes and make time for those little things that are big things to our children. Thanks for the reminder. :)
