Scripture Memory Verse Week 4

Happy 4th of July!
Our verse this week relates to Independence day with the word "stripes"...here is our verse for this week:
 But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5
(Adults learn the entire verse; kids the bolded portion.)
Consider with your kids:
**We talk about the "stars and stripes"...what are those?
The stars an stripes remind us that others have given their lives for our freedom...because they've fought and died we get to do what we like, worship the God we chose, do the vocation we're called to by God...
**By Jesus' stripes we are healed...what are His stripes? How are we healed?
How is Jesus dying on the cross like soldiers dying for our freedom? How do both stripes represent a freedom for our lives? Do we earn either of these stripes? No, they are given through the grace of others.
**How might we grace others this week?
Have a great week!
